Do I need an account to use this site?
No. Every trail, stage and route option on this site is open — no sign-up, no paywall. An account only matters in the mobile app, where your walks are saved to your profile.
How accurate are the distances and times?
They are a good planning guide, but always approximate. Your pace, rest stops and the weather change the day; on the trail, follow waymarks and local signs.
Can I follow a route from the browser?
No. Step-by-step following, off-route voice alerts and recording need your phone in your pocket, so they live in the Snail Trail app for Android and iOS. Choose on the site, walk with the app.
Can I plan a hike with friends?
Yes, in the app. Create a group, invite friends and plan your trip together; everyone can follow the same route on the day.
